Day 40 Friday June 15

Good day after the fog finally lifted. Just took a ride along the coast for about 30 miles out to Cape Chignecto and Cape d’Or. In between is a town built by the Acadians who built dikes so they could farm at Advocate Harbore. Of course they were chased out and then it all stood empty. What a waste. Beach is covered with driftwood. The road to Cape D’Or was unbelievable. Dirt road that went up and over the cape to its summit then had to walk down to the lighthouse. Couldn’t turn around once on it. Didn’t realize it would be so far but fabulous views of this unusual swirling water as the tides from 2 directions converge with this underwater system of some sort so I guess it was worth it. Stopped first at this great little Age of Sail museum run by the community in Port Greville which again is nothing since the shipbuilding ended. Ended at the Old Shipyard Beach Campground which is right on the beach! This is very a famous ship was built – the Mary Celeste – long ago. She was found on her way to Europe totally abandoned so big mystery. Another beautiful view and very few people.
